Valerie Wiesneth Downs
MPT, MDNC
My professional training began over thirty years ago in the athletic training rooms of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, treating collegiate athletes. Since becoming a certified athletic trainer and earning my masters degree in physical therapy, I have worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practice, nursing homes, home health and as an adjunct professor with the UNMC Physical Therapy program, all the while treating patients with a variety of orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, weakness and balance issues. I have rehabilitated movement dysfunctions in the pre-teen to the elderly, and the weekend warrior to the professional athlete. My passion for exercise combined with my knowledge of the body in motion and desire to empower others has equipped me to help many on their path to wellbeing. I specialize in orthopedic rehabilitation and myofascial release, and I’m certified in dry needling.
